I was scrolling through Homelite saws on Feebay earlier tonight & spotted an XL-113The price was a little steep, but it was negotiable as it was a Make Offer too.The seller accepted my offer, which really surprised me as it was $30 under his asking price. It's supposed to have good compression. The paint is a little rough though.I don't see the XL-113s that often.I don't know how common they were.

I've never seen one in person, but then again where I am you really don't see anything other than xl-101/102 and the Canadian versions xl-76/130 etc, nice score tho, that's one series of saw I'd love to collect every model of, but probably won't happen.. Lol

He had that for sale for quite some time. Congrats! They are cool saws.
I had made the same offer at one point, ahead of a trip through his town, when I could pick it up. He declined almost immediately. I have a 113 here that is cosmetically nicer, but lacks spark and the piston is shot. I had planned to move my pretty parts over, but no longer see any room for red saws in my collection.

It's easy to get spark back on the saw either with cleaning the points & a new condenser,or an electronic chip.It shouldn't be hard to get a piston kit either.

I contacted the seller & asked if he planned on shipping the saw in the near future.I never got a reply back.Lo & behold I was just notified by eBay that he shipped the saw.I bought it on 1/25.I thought they had a certain amount of time to ship your purchased item out, like 5-7 days. This seller is not going to get a very positive feedback.

Always frustrating when sellers don't ship right away, thankfully most sellers are pretty prompt with shipping, or at least communication

I checked this a.m.& FedEx is supposed to deliver the XL-113 tomorrow.I'm pretty excited about getting this saw & tearing into it.All it said in the description was "turns over, has compression".I have no idea if it has spark, but I'll find out soon enough.

As far as I'm concerned FedEx sucks! I was supposed to get the saw yesterday, yesterday came & went & no saw.I checked the tracking & it said I'd get it delivered on Sun.(i thought it odd that FedEx would deliver on a Sun.).Today is Sun.,so I checked tracking again & it said I'm supposed to get delivery on Mon.It's only about 150 mi.from me at this point in Syracuse,N.Y.From there it'll go to either Batavia,or Buffalo,N.Y.First the seller took his good old sweet time in shipping it,then the shipper took his good old sweet time in getting it even close to me.

That sucks, I never have liked FedEx, here in Edmonton if no one is there to receive package it goes to their 1 depot for a city of a million that's on thr other side of town.. I actually only trust Canada post to actually be able to deliver a package on time

FedEx delivers here 7 days/week. Aside from Amazon, they are the only ones. USPS will get it here 6 days/week, and UPS only 5 days. But, UPS is by far my shipper of choice. For packages I have been shipping, even international, they are sometimes half the cost and always quicker. Their tracking seems to be the most accurate as well. I am shipping a 25lb package of NOS parts out today, and UPS is charging me $13.60, 1 day transit. USPS is $32 and 3 days.

FedEx has been pretty good around these parts. I assume it's somewhat of a regional thing based on staffing. Most people around here are working although I understand in some areas, like larger metropolitan areas, a lot of people still don't want to go back to work yet. FedEx has delivered here multiple times on Saturday and Sunday recently. It's hard for me to hold much against them when they're working 7 days a week and still having a hard time keeping up. I've done it and it's no fun.
I agree UPS is probably the best. I've sat in my recliner and ordered something from St. Louis right before going to bed, around 10:30 or so, and received the item in SE Kansas the next day. That's pretty tough to beat.
Sit tight Ed, most of the battle is over. It'll show up soon. I'm sure you have others to work on!

Yeah,I've got lots of others to work on,but I've had my heart set on this one for 2 weeks now since I bought it.I checked on Feebay & they said it's out for delivery. When I check the FedEx tracking,it says the tracking # is invalid?I sure hope the wait is worth it,I don't want to be disappointed.

I keep refreshing this thread just to hear that it has arrived! Ha...just like when I am waiting on one of my own. I have 2 inbound from England, and no decent tracking to help me out.

It finally arrived today, yee haw! It has great compression & had no spark at first. It turned out the plug was bad & the switch I think is working intermittently.I think I mighty have another switch here, but not sure. The rim on the drum is all chewed up,it'll need a new one.The screws that hold the recoil on are an oddball size - 6.5mm.I had to take the front handle off in order to get on the screw right under it for the recoil, what a PITA! Either someone was in the saw prior to being sold,or it was well cared for, nice & clean in there. It has the original fuel line on it & appears to be in good shape, but I haven't checked in the tank yet.

She's a runner! There was no fuel line or filter in the tank,so it got a new line & filter.I pulled the carb figuring it needed a rebuild.I just cleaned the carb, not even really dirty. The metering diaphragm was stuck to the cover,so good thing I pulled the carb.Five pulls & it was running! It's missing the manual oiler button,I might have one here for it.The dust screen on the recoil needs a good cleaning too.It also needs a baffle in the muffler & I know I have one here for it.The chain is about one link too long, the adjuster is all the way out.I'll just look & see what I've got for a 16 in.chain.Maybe I'll switch it to a 20 in.bar & chain.Oh yeah,I almost forgot, this saw has a Tillotson HS56A carb on it.Highly unusual to have a Tilly on it,most of the time they had Walbro carbs on them.

Today didn't quite work out the way I'd hoped.I had planned on finishing up the 113 with a new oil pump button, baffle in the muffler,a new duck bill in the fuel cap,& a new rim on the clutch drum, but other things came up that needed to be attended to.My wood burner needed to have 2 firebricks looked at.One fell out of it's place & the other one was severely cracked & broken.I got the furnace repaired & heating the house again.I did manage to find out that the muffler already has a baffle in it.The oil pump plunger button that I thought would work didn't,actually I had 2 buttons & neither one fit.I ended up putting a button on for an XL-12/SXL.I lost my package of duck bills that I always kept in the same huge bag as my carb rebuild kits,so I had to order more. The rim will have to wait till tomorrow.

I got a new rim put on the clutch drum & the bearing greased today.I also put a 20 in. Oregon D096 bar & chain on it.I've got new duck bills on the way & a bumper spike kit ordered for it too.I'll get some pics of it on here as soon as the weather gets nice.
