Welcome to HOH! I'm assuming you mean an air bubble in the hose? Short of being low on fuel, the only real way for air to get into the hose is for a crack or split in part of the hose.

Anyone know what causes this ? I am guessing this is a Homelite Timberman 45cc? I am thinking you mean the primer bulb? They get hard over time and need to be replaced otherwise they will get hard and crack, then you can't prime the carb with fuel. This could be the cause of your saw starting and stalling if it is sucking air. Don't worry more people will be on here to way-in on suggestions as to possible causes and fixes! -Matt
