Well many of you might remember the 990G I restored probably 2 or 3 years ago. Well one thing broke my heart and that was the clear coat on the red painted parts decided to bubble and crack about 3 months later. Least I think it was 3 months because that's when I remember noticing. Well I was to upset to fix it and people didn't seem to ever notice or ask and today I finally took it down and took it apart and will be blasting the red parts and starting over again. Ordered the decals and waiting on those to show now. And now that leads me to my other 900 series gear drive. Picked this up a couple years back from a buddy up north and never did find the time to take it apart to see how badly it was seized. Well skip to a year ago and I finally tore it apart and found the piston corroded to the cylinder. Needless to say after searching here and there for about a year I finally had come across the parts saw I posted about awhile back. Skip to today I took the saw in and parts washed it really good and have been ordering parts. Did a light ball hone on the cylinder and it cleaned up perfectly. Ordered all the seals and needed gaskets and a set of piston rings. Well that's been my project lol I'm excited to have a big gear drive to cut some wood with. I'll start a thread on the runner saw when I get all the parts in and will probably bring back the 990's restore thread to document the repaint on the red parts. Does anyone have a good way to clean these handles up and make them shine? Thanks! Leon I'm gonna have to head your way with some saws so we can have a wood cutting party again haha My place is a mud pit currently! 20220119_231414 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 20220119_231421 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 20220119_231427 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr

If you're talking about the aluminum handlebar, some Mother's polish and a little elbow grease will make them shine. You'll damn near make a mirror out of them if you keep rubbing.
Hate to see the paint issue, that would be a heartbreaker. You have no idea how many times I've drooled over the picture of that saw, everytime you posted something. I'll be looking forward to seeing the new and improved version.

If your handle bar has scratches, they can be sanded and polished out

Hoping the decals show up soon so I can get this thing back together!

I barely missed out on a pristine 9-26 for $50 bucks at a yard sale awhile back. Needless to say I was pretty sad. I missed it by a half hour and got to suffer looking at it cause the buyer hadn't picked it up yet. lol
