Hello, I recently lent my chainsaw to a friend and just received it back without a chain. I looked over the forum and found some contradiction relating to the number of links. I'm looking for a Oregon P/N that is correct for it, or another brand if better. My saw is a Super EZ Automatic with a 16" bar. I'm also curious of age if someone could help with that. Model No. S-EZ Serial No. 22160196
Thank you, Paul
P.S. Never lend out your chain saw.

What did you friend say what happened to the chain? Should be 59 drive links of regular 3/8 pitch .050 gauge

16" bar should have 59 links and be using a 7 tooth drive on the spur gear. That should set you right. A lot of replacement chains with 60 teeth, but won't usually fit right.

Truth! If you want it to remain in prime shape!

Thank you for the response. He lost it in some brush and snow on the side of a hill. It jammed and he was removing the chain to un jam it. Luckily I still have all the parts less the chain. The guides are damaged and the gear on the clutch is looking pretty worn. I just cleaned it up, it's going to need a few new parts. A new air cleaner for one. Besides this, it runs great! Any idea what the difference is between D59 and S59? Thank you, Paul

If you want the highest possible cutting performance from the mighty SEZ, I'd recommend FULL- chisel chain. For Oregon, that means either LPX, EXL or older stock LGX. Otherwise Stihl brand FULL-chisel will work equally as well. Of course there are other brands, ie. Archer, which I've had good luck with and are reasonably priced.
Ps. No more saw lending. Instead, offer to help with the job. A few hours of your time is worth much less than a good quality saw, bar and chain. 😉 Cheers, Steve

You may want to replace the clutch/spur and dress your bar before running the new chain. Also a good time to inspect the clutch bearing and race, then lub the bearing when reassembling. This routine maintenance will give you like new performance and no ill cutting traits. The SEZ saw is a great performer when in good shape.
Hope your friend is paying for the new chain.

There was one listed by Oregon in their 1982 PRODUCT APPLICATION GUIDE. Their POWER MATE SYSTEM part number is 16379

The Homelite part# is A-65987, still reasonably easy to find. It uses the std. 7-spline rim.
