I would just be happy that it’s not under oiling

Prolly something is worn out not sealing properly or loose.Take the side cover and bar n chain off and clean it up. Run saw and look where oil is coming from. Look up the 150 IPL if you haven't already.

Go to homepage on here. Go down to Homelite Repair Manuals. undee70ss posted one there , Feb 26 2017. It covers the 150, section on testing oiling system there. Very helpful.

I read this thread the other day and thought I had seen a 150 that has an adjustable oil pump. Today I remembered where I had seen the 150, its in my garage. My neighbor dropped it off, I said I would set the rakers. The adjustment screw is near where the front handlebar mounts to the top of the saw. The screw looks like a carb jet screw and has a +/- decal that wraps around it. Not sure if this feature was deleted as the 150 evolved in later years. The one my neighbor owns is blue, late 60s?

I picked up a 150 powerhead this summer. I'll have to look for that on mine as it is a blue one also.

If I remember correctly, the adjustable oiler was on the early 150's but that feature wasn't offered very long. I don't think the later blue ones had it.

That jives with what I have been told and found to be true. The early blues were adjustable, the later blues lost it (pretty quickly into the model production), and then the reds never had it.

The 150 is a diaphragm oiler, so the odds that it's truly over oiling are pretty slim. The best test is to run a tank of fuel and oil through while cutting. As long as they both run dry at about eh same time, it's functioning as intended.

The screw you can see is the retainer for the pickup side check ball & spring.
