I recently bought an SEZ & found it's an electronic ignition saw,but it's missing the blue coil, part # 94111.It seems to me that someone here did an experiment with a Husky coil using the Homelite (Prerstolite) laminations.I can't seem to find it here anywhere & I could've sworn I bookmarked it.

Thanks Charles, but your "experiment" was on your SXLAO.The core or laminations on that Prestolite module are different than the one used on the SEZ.I've got a cheapo Husky coil here that I tried that on a SXLAO,or XL-12 (can't remember now) & I ended up mucking up the lamination trying to get it into the Husky coil.I have the laminations from 2 SEZ modules, but no longer have the locking tabs.I guess I'm up the creek without a paddle.

That link just gives me pics of all the breakerless modules. No way to click on anything to take me to somewhere to order it.The lastI knew,he jacked up his prices considerably. He was selling the A94111 replacement module for well over $100.

They sold them on Ebay before COVID hit; I'm guessing they still stopped production due to demand. Interesting that Partszilla is selling the Super XL version, but not the Super EZ.

LRB is selling the new & improved modules for the SXL & XL-12 & I've had good luck with them, but they're only for the Wico modules.Proline is selling the modules for the Phelon modules for the SXL & XL-12.I didn't know Sawzilla got in on it too. FWIW,I would buy a damn thing from Standard Magneto after he screwed me on some useless dead condensers a couple yrs.ago.I did a write-up on them here at the time.

Well, my recently acquired SEZAO saw with the blue coil of death didn't have spark. After reading most all here on HOH about this troublesome magneto I decided to take my chances with Standard Magneto. Just called and it was in stock so I ordered one, $53.32 with free shipping. I will try it to see if that cures my no-spark issue. I thought about trying to bake my blue coil but figured if I could get a replacement, why not. I am glad I don't have any points to deal with. I will update when it comes in if that cures my problem.

When you ordered the module did you use the Homelite part # A94111?I'm surprised they're that cheap now.I bought one when they were selling them on Feebay back a few yrs.ago & got it for about that price. Then their price went up drastically a bit later on,they were up over $100.At $53 I guess I'll have to swallow my pride & get one.

Well, I used the part number (92-5043) from their (Standard Magneto) website, and the guy asked if I was trying to replace the blue Prestolite coil #94111 to which I replied "yeah, the coil of death." He mentioned to me they purchased the rights from Prestolite to reproduce the coils. I am not sure how long it will take to show up, free standard shipping from Illinois to California, but I am hoping they improved the reliability of this coil.

It might've been partly my fault that I got screwed by them.I ordered old condensers, but in the same breath when those condensers were sent back as defective he should've thrown them out.150 condensers @ $5-$7 ea.is nothing to a multi-million dollar corpoation like Standard Magneto.Basically a tax write-off. I did end up ordering a module today for the SEZ I got a couple of weeks ago.

When I was doing the Anzac module mod I could not find a Blue coil of death RELIABLE replacement at a reasonable price. Standard Magneto showed them on-line as NLA and the Homie exact replacements when found were priced out of sight and some of them were BAKED coils which would not be long term reliable for me. Appears that Standard Magneto has the replacements for around $60 now days. Also I did not know at the time how many other issues these EZ's had, (never heard them run) and did not want to throw good money into bad. (possibly whipping on a dead horse) The EZ's were non-runners when I acquired them. I now have a WICO/Prestolite points flywheel, points coil and a Atom chip that I can install so as to get a powerhead test run BEFORE doing a blue module replacement. This is mentioned in some of the links posted below. Here is some links I saved about using a $15 Anzac coil to replace a blue coil of death. I got very good runs on two EZ's using the Anzac mags Easy start and lots of power. The stihl mag is not as user friendly. You will have to remove (press off) the Anzac mag from it's lamination core and use the Blue coil of death Wico/Prestolite core. I've also used a Wico points core on the Anzac mag, but the Points mag core is hard to remove from the coil. (It's epoxied on the core whereas the electronic coils are just pressed onto their cores. Just a heads up. Phelon coil cores will not work. They are not the correct size and most of the replacement core ONLY laminations part numbers you see for the Homies is the Phelon cores. Also the spark plug wire IS NOT to be removed from the Anzac and Stihl mags, therefore when installing onto the EZ the excess length wire requires cutting and re-install the spark plug boot end. Also the spark plug wire needs routed away from the cooling fins so it won't melt from excessive heat. All of this is mentioned (scattered) in the linked posts. houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/6319/dollars-minutes-cure-prestolite-blueshouseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/10007/aftermarket-husky-question-prestolite-conversionand some more links from my file about Blue coil of death converts: Homelite EZ Electronic ignition Links to Blue coil of Death replacements houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/9681houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/10007/aftermarket-husky-question-prestolite-conversionwww.arboristsite.com/community/threads/homelite-super-ez-ignition-questions.348570/page-2

The Anzac modded saw is still running strong and starting easy. Idles really smooth, fast throttle response.
