Is a John Deere CS-40 the same as a Homelite CS-40?

Ron,I believe the J.D.CS40 was made by Echo. I saw one (jd cs-40) on Craigslist and it looks similar to the Homelite cs-40 but I just can't tell for sure. It seems that John Deere might have used Efco as a supplier also for some of their later saws?

I just participated in a similar thread over on AS.J.D.had many saw makers supply their saws to them.Remington,Homelite (obviously),Echo,& Efco were some of them. There may've been more.

After a little more research, it looks like the John Deere CS 40 is a collaboration between Oleo Mac and Efco (Emac?). Probably not the same as a Homelite CS 40..

Definitely different saws...one dealer on AS indicated the Efco 940 was the base for the John Deere CS40.
