i purchased the A-97026 solid state conversion kit for a Homelite 150 auto. mainly b/c the old coil seems bad for high voltage and it was suggested.
via another thread here, seems i also have to replace the flywheel with a 96891 flywheel. is this true?
in the service manual 5th edition, pp B-29 section [Magneto and Timing] it mentions a conventional flywheel type magneto ignition system is used on early models while late models have solid-state ignition.
but i don't actually see where a new/different flywheel model is required in that manual for the 150 conversion or in the conversion kit A-97026 instructions.
so with this conversion kit i also need a different flywheel?

Is the flywheel on the saw now made by repco/ phelon? I think that your electronic coil is a Wico/prestolite made coil.
They should both be the same make/ manufacturer in order to work properly.
I’m no expert though on your conversion kit. Onlyhomlites would be the person to ask if no one else here can verify ,

it's stamped "phelon" on the flywheel
the solid-state coil is stamped, "prestolite".
looks like i didn't do enough due diligence on this particular issue. lol
