I acquired a 700g today. It needs some TLC but has tremendous compression and fired right up! So far, this is the loudest saw that I have. OMG!!

I know this is a long shot but does anyone have an id tag for a 700g that they would part with? Mine in mia.. I don’t have one but I do have a laser engraver and have tossed around the idea of some reproductions. Any idea what type of metal they are and the size?

I see an FM after the serial number on that ID tag. That must stand for Fairbanks Morse (starter)? Homelite must have built the 700 with 2 different style starters as mine has the ball drive. Maybe early vs late?

I finally have an old gear drive saw that I can run and cut with! I bought this one a couple of years ago and decided to tinker with it today. It ran great when I got it but it has issues. I replaced the leaking fuel line, oiler line, and throttle lock from a donor saw. I don't know why I waited so long to do these minor repairs, but glad I did. I'm excited to play with it at a gtg.. Old saws a cool. Wonderful hobby! Attachments:

Looks like a winner! Glad you finally got it up and running! Any updates? I know it's been a few months lol I've cut a few cookies on a big maple log. It does pretty well but needs some fine tuning. It has recoil issues that need to be ironed out now. Overall, I'm happy with the way it runs! Hopefully I'll have it ready to go for some gtgs.
