I bought this 410 on FB Marketplace about 2 1/2 yrs.ago for about $50.It was supposed to have a scored piston.I got the saw & gave it a shot of fuel in the carb, pulled it over & it fired.I didn't think much about it & put it away in my back shed for another day.About a month ago I saw a post here by another member & contacted him to see if he was interested in working on this saw.I actually had a pair of 410s for him to work on,but couldn't find the carb & other parts needed to put the other saw back together.I did find them eventually.Anyhow, before I shipped the saw off to be worked on I had to make sure it really had a bad piston.I took a compression test & it came in at 150 psi.on about 7 or 8 pulls.I thought that was rather a high reading for a saw with a scored piston,so I took the muffler off to have a look. The piston & cylinder were in perfect condition,no scoring on either. The saw went off to Al & he enjoyed working on it.He cleaned it up nicely, put in a new boot, new fuel lines,& new oil line, also rebuilt the carb.He sent me a video of the saw running & I was quite happy.I received the saw yesterday & put the bar & chain on from the other 410,put some fuel in it & pulled....& pulled.....& pulled to no avail.I texted Al & said the saw wouldn't start. It'd run on a prime, but that was it.Al was quite upset as he had the saw running before he shipped it to me.I told him not to worry, that it was probably something simple.Today I went out to play with the 410 to see why it wouldn't start.I thought maybe I didn't have enough fuel in it,so I put more fuel in it & still no start.I primed it several times & I sat there trying to figure out what was going on.Then it kinda hit me that maybe the needle was sticking in the carb.I picked up a 3/8 ratchet & tapped on the carb & gave it a prime. It roared to life & stayed running! I'm very happy with how it runs. Thanks Al! Here are a couple pics.
