Driving down the not so nice part of town aka Portland, yes that's right folks the city of Portland Oregon, oh the homeless the junkies and rows upon rows of methed out motor Holmes and trash, as I was at the light I look over at the side of the road and this guy is set up in his Ford f150 with a bunch of string trimmers, lawn mowers all sorts of small engine lawn care junk, I spotted what looked like a homelite so I pulled up, turns out it was an echo 415 VI? Had an older black oregon sprocket nose bar with the white stripes, original chain, in really good shape saw looked damn near New, dude was solid at $70.00 old Hispanic guy would only take 5$ off. Is this worth it? Don't know much about the early ECho models, and can't find much about it online. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

That old saw is getting pretty long in the tooth by now, probably 70's to early 80's vintage, I'm guessing.
I always thought they were very well built saws and rarely ever gave much serious trouble. Just the normal carb kitting and ignition work mostly.
I never thought they were particularly friendly to work on and they certainly were not speed demons but just a very solid and dependable saw.
It's probably not a bad buy if it's truly in nearly like new condition. Not a steal but not terribly higher either in my opinion.

I worked with a feller that loved his older Echo saws.

It is a really nice saw, I passed by the guy again this week, the saw was still sitting on the make shift table, guess it's gonna hang out unless he's willing to take my 40$.

Yep,check back with him. He may think when it gets cooler people will think of cutting wood and need a saw so he'll just sit on it for now.
