203150014 #2 assembly line Nov. 10, 1980 saw # 14 of the day Awesome! Thank you. This saw was left by the previous owner when I bought my house. Looks super clean, but doesn’t have the firing parts inside the box. Obviously I’m not sure what the parts are called on these old saws. No spark plug wire, no wire to the switch, nothing beside the flywheel. The screws are still there that attached it to the saw though. Id love to get this thing running, but I have no idea where to start. The rope pulls and the compression seems good. Any ideas where to start? Thanks

They were known to have a high failure rate. Probably why the saw was left.

The name of the part is an electronic ignition module, part # A94111.There's one on Feebay now,but I don't think you want to spend $150 on one & there's no gaurantee that it's any good. I believe there was a member here who was playing around with using a Chinese module used on Husqvarna saws where you could knock out the laminations on the old moduel & insert it in the Chinese module.I think Hoggwood comes to mind as the member here.

I agree with Ed. I've pulled new ones out of the box in recent years that ran an hour or two then quit. I have a new one that I plan to put on a good SEZ one day but I'm not that optimistic about how long it will work, if it works at all.

So y’all are telling me there’s not much hope for this saw then? No! There is always hope. There are several options for getting a replacement module. Contact www.standardmagneto.com/index.html for a replacement. You can also convert to the husky module if you are comfortable doing metalwork.

Here is some info notes I saved where I used a $15 Anzac module to replace the blue coil of death with good results. You will need to install the Anzac coil onto your laminations. HOMELITE BLUE COIL OF DEATH MODIFICATIONS 1/2021 I stumbled across this POSSIBLE $12-$16 Blue coil of Death mod for the Homie EZ that use the Wico/Prestolite ELECTRONIC ignition system. I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. JUST PASSING ALONG SOME INFO that I stumbled across while looking for a module that might fit onto the Blue coil module core laminations for testing a failed Homelite EZ electronic Wico igniton chainsaw. UPDATE to notes: I have tried the Anzac mag mod with very good results. Some say: We have used Husqvarna modules and even Stihl 1300 modules on older saws. Stihl part number for module 0000 400 1300 Update to notes. The Anzac module is more user friendly to do the mod as compared to the Stihl module.Homelite electronic ignition Wico/ Prestolite Blue coil of death replacement. 1/2021 Anzac 503901401 Ignition Coil Module for Husna 50 51 55 61 254 257 261 262 266 268 272 Chainsaw Jonsered 2054 EPA 2055 2095 Tested this as a good run, 1 2021 A replacement MODULE for Blue coil of Death A94111 Links tips to the mods Using a ANZAC module from the link below: 1/2021 houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/6319/dollars-minutes-cure-prestolite-bluesAnzac 503901401 Ignition Coil Module for Husna 50 51 55 61 254 257 261 262 266 268 272 Chainsaw Jonsered 2054 EPA 2055 2095 Another guy trying the mod: houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/10007/aftermarket-husky-question-prestolite-conversionThe North pole magnet MUST enter this module legs first on the Wico electronic Module. A points type flywheel has opposite polarity magnets and will not work. You can determine the magnet polarity by using a compass. If N pole of compass attracts the magnet being tested is S polarity and vice versa.
