Can someone give me some ideas here - it says EZ on the carrying case and XL-1 on the side. My dad bought this new in the 1970's? In a related question - would this cut better with a new oregon bar and chain? Thank you! C Attachments:

Welcome to House of Homelite.
It is an EZ-Automatic with the starter housing/cover that's been replaced from a later XL-1 model.
Date of Manufacture: Monday, October 20th, of 1969.
Post ALL other questions on the appropriate Board.

Your 2nd question about bar and chain. If the engine is running correctly the existing bar and chain should cut good. Those EZ's most generally came with a 16 inch roller tipped bar. With just a little bit of TLC them EZ's will do good for a long time. I have some and one is about 45 years old and only required replacement chains and one carb kit.
When replacing a chain stay away from the low kick back type chains if you want an aggressive cut.

It hadn’t run in a few years - I shot some starter fluid in the carb and it started right up. Seems to run pretty well. I used this saw a bunch in my youth. We replaced it a few years ago on the farm with an echo - so i brought his back to my house.

I looked on the Oregon site - but there don’t seem to be a lot of options there. I ordered this - but could return it. Oregon AdvanceCut Bar and Chain Combo 16 in. Bar K095 Tail Mount, D59 Chain, 0.050-Gauge 3/8 in., 59 Drive Links Thanks again, C
