Hi guys I think I lucked out bought a 5-30 a couple of months ago for parts received it opened it up to check that everything was there then put it in the corner. A couple of days ago I was organizing stuff to finally put my 5-30s together realizing I needed a drive clutch sprocket so I thought go take one off the saw in the corner . Put it up on the bench and then took the drive case cover off. To my surprise it was not the same as my 5-30 and 7-29. It has two many teeth. So I started looking at the rest of the saw. It had a 26lcs handle and spikes, hp 19b carb, 5-30 fuel tank, 45” bar, dark green fly wheel cover with holes for a 7-29 I’d tag i also bought an nos cylinder cover it’s the same green. It had a 5-30 cylinder so I got to thinking. Pulled the jug off and it’s got a 8-29 connecting rod.looking up stuff on ipls I believe it’s an 8-29. But the dark green paint. It’s original not. Repainted . Could it be a very late unit. Please chime in imgur.com/a/PyaWhZT

I think you need to get rid of that Frankensaw right now. Please send it my way before it changes into something that takes over your shop!!
If only these saws could talk. Lord knows what parts they have had put on them over the years. Most of the parts will fit this whole family so I can see the mix and match to keep a saw running.
I got a 5-30N with a 20 MCS fan cover, go figure.

I thought that too for the cylinder shields.
Got a price quote that was in the 4 figures. Ouch!! That was after I paid for the 3D scan, which was a lot more that I paid for the saw which had the perfect shield that I had scanned. Just can no make the numbers work. Let me know if you crack the code.
