Have a 360 professional. Making a horizontal cut and the saw revved up an quit. Thought it was out of gas or the filter was not submerged. Filled the tank and it would not start. Replaced the carb boot which was old and it still would not start, not even a pop. Checked the shut off switch with an ohm meter, opens and closed the circuit as its suppose to. Took off the coil pack and wired it to the pickup, added the spark plug and grounded it. Sparks when pulling it over. Got a carb rebuild kit and cleaned and rebuilt the carb. Still no pop. Tried putting some fuel directly through the carb into the cylinder and no pop. Tried putting gas into the top of the combustion chamber through the spark plug. Still no pop.
Is there a way to test the coil pack. Could it be a weak spark? I would have expected at least a pop out of her with everything I have tried. The fuel and pulse lines have not been replaced, but there seems to be plenty of gas in the fuel line when I remove it. The crankshaft seals have not been replaced.
Any thoughts on my next step. Normally I would rule out the ignition if I have spark and work on fuel delivery.

When you say coil pack, it sounds like you're talking about the transformer that fastens over the spark plug with 2 screws? If so, usually the only thing that is bad about them is they get burnt up when a spark plug comes apart. Otherwise, they're usually good. If you're getting spark through everything when testing, I'd say you ruled out the coil and transformer. The coils too are usually near bulletproof. Have you tried a new spark plug? I know you said it sparked but 360's are hard on plugs. I've seen plugs that would fire out in the open but not when wet under compression. Popped in a new plug and problem solved.
If everything ignition is ruled out, how's the compression? 360's run pretty high compression but rings can get stuck occasionally. Hope if it is low on compression, it's not burned up.
