This makes no sense to me . Sometimes when I start the saw it is easy to pull the rope and the saw will start. Other times it is hard to pull the rope and it will not start . If you keep pulling it it will be easy like one time then back to being hard. Does this saw have a automatic decompression valve that I don't know about. Thank you for any and all help

No compression release on a 360. The first thing that comes to mind is the recoil rope pulling down in beside itself in the starter pulley. Is the starter rope worn and thin? Give that a look then if it's ok we'll go from there.

Flooded cylinder? This causes a hydraulic effect. Fluid doesn't compress. Hold throttle wide open while pulling it over to clear the excess fuel. Maybe the carb is not shutting the fuel flow down after the saw is shut off.

Had a Super XL hard to pull sometimes. The rod bearings were worn out on it and would bind. Hopefully that's not your problem.

As to the last reply to this issue about the rod bearings....how to check that and if it is, is it worth digging in that deep to fix? Having same issue, but just got saw and that is the most noticeble first impression of it it is incredibly hard to pull to start. It will start but i am never getting full pulls. Its in quarter pulls. And not easy with a 25"bar on it. Can only pull enough to get started with the heavy bar removed

I like to pull the starter cover off and flip the flywheel over compression with my fingers. It should turn slowly and smoothly with virtually no noise. If it does, then the issue is usually in the starter assembly. If the rope is not pulling beside itself in the pulley then check the pulley bushing. If it's worn the pulley can be rubbing the housing. If it is rubbing, there will be fine magnesium cuttings under the rewind spring.
Does the saw run ok when it starts?

As far as rod bearings go the saw I had would bind and not start. I could back it up to free it but it would bind trying to start it.
