The first is a Homelite 6-63 and I never would have guessed it is 82cc. Anybody ever use one? How do they run? The second one is a Remington Logmaster GL-7R 106cc and is supposed to have planetary gear reduction. Also looks like a new 9/16 chain.

First time I've seen a 6-63. Me also. 6-63 can't be very common.

Chainsaw Collector Assoc. lists the 663 at 92cc. It appears to be somewhat of a predecessor to the Wiz models or is a direct drive Wiz. Never heard or seen of one, had to research it. Would you post more pictures if you dismantle any of it? The Remington-Mall saws are monsters, I've got a Golden Logmaster and only have rebuilt the recoil. Not many parts out there. Found a new OEM roller bar for it, seller wanted 300 bucks. The saw still sets on the shelve with the worn out bar on it. Keep the rest of us posted as you progress with those two beauties.

There are 2 listings for the 6-63 and 1 for a 663. I missed the first 2 that mentions the saw was sold overseas. The specs show different reed designs compared to early EZ, Zip, and the EZ6. A Fairbanks-Morse starter is used in place of the ball ratchet style. The third listing shows the saw with a Wiz style fuel tank and air filter. The HL117 carb is the same as the one used on the EZ and the EZ6, so parts and repairs shouldn't be difficult. When you get the 6-63 running, use earplugs, they are loud!

Hello all Here is an unbelievable update on my Remington GL-7R. This saw has never been used. The bar cleaned up beautifully and the chain had 2 rusted rivets the I was able to work loose. Still cleaning the rest of it. The sticker on the bar says "Roller Bearing nose gives 20% more cutting power" and the tag on part that secures the air filter says make sure the transmission is full before using. The photo of the planetary gear reducion shows the sprocket has never been under load. The sticker and tag have been on the saw since it was built. So if I get it running should I cut with it or not?

It's your saw to do whatever you want. If you're tempted to cut with it, maybe consider putting a different bar on to preserve the original. Just a thought.

I've got a bunch of Remington saws, but nothing like that! Most of mine are from the 60's & 70's,nothing from the earlier yrs.Remington was a damn good saw, very similar to Homelite on some models. My first saw was an SL9 that I got when I was 15, & at 46cc I don't think there was a saw of the same size that could beat it.

Finally got that yellow saw back together and off my bench. Looks like I was wrong about the model number on this Homelite. Never trust the model number on the starter. After thorough inspection it appears this saw in not a 6-63. It is a 600-d with the wrong flywheel cover and starter.

Today I got the 600D running. Got spark but I have no idea what was wrong. First I thought it was the spark plug wire rubbed through but that didn't fix it. Only thing that got me was 8k ohms. still no spark Checked points and got about 1.5 ohm cleaned the contacts. no spark. Condenser shows 1 ohm so it wasn't open or OL. Finally I took the points off and cleaned all the connections that already looked good. Wrapped the rope around the pulley again and got enough spark to run 10 saws. Turned the saw upside down and took the carb apart. Looks good still has the old style needle. Reassembled and filled the fuel line, put some fuel down the carb. Engine started and soon smoothed out. Reminded me of an old Jap dirt bike running from the cops.

Today I got some parts in the mail and the 600D all dressed up. I had a bar and chain left over from another project.
