I'm rebuilding a Walbro HDC-46. The Metering Diaphragm I received in the re-build kit came with a much higher pin. The center pin on the original diaphragm measures 0.015" and the center pin on the new diaphragm measures 0.055". The new diaphragm won't allow the needle to close and the carb won't hold pressure. Is it worth trying to file down the center pin on the new diaphragm or should I try to find a different diaphragm? I don't know how precise the center pin has to be. Any ideas? Thanks Jon

I'd say at this point to give the filing a shot. After all the diaphragm is useless to you the way it is.Take your file & give the pin a couple of strokes at a time to see how much you're removing.I'd say if you get it down to .020 to try it & see how it works.Nothing to lose by trying.Worst case scenario - you need to get a new diaphragm.

Yeah I'd probably file on it too. Several guys have done it with success. Getting it down to the thousandth likely won't be as critical as just making sure it's flat.

I have filed these in the past works great! . The key is to go slow. I used a feeler gauge to check the height often and raker gauge file to remove the material.
