Hi gang,I bought a SXL-922 almost a yr.& a half ago & finally got it yesterday. It has spark, but low compression,so it won't fire due to a scored piston.According to Acres' site the 922 is 77cc with a 2 in.bore.I know there were several different Homie saws that had a 2 in.bore,so what piston would fit & work?
I can get a 2 1/16 in.piston (82cc) & matching cylinder for it for $190 for both. It's a little more than I'd care to spend & would be my last option. The question here is:will the 2 1/16 in.piston fit onto the connecting rod that's currently in the saw?I realize that I'd have to go with the bigger cylinder.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you'd be good with either bore option. Back when the oval port 2 1/16 bore saws starting burning up and we started replacing them with 2 inch bore parts, we just changed the cylinder and piston/pin and rings. Didn't mess with the rod. So no reason why it won't work going the other direction. I suppose I could be missing something but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. At least until someone smarter jumps in and straightens me out:)

I found that an XL-700 has a 2 in.bore & piston as well. The part # is A63780B.I won't know which way to go till I pull the engine down to see what the cylinder is like.If it's scored beyond repair I'll go with the 2 1/16 piston kit & cylinder. If it's just the piston,I think I might have one already (aftermarket of course, not LRB).Thanks fopr the input Brent!
