What media do you use to strip your parts before painting? I have access to a sand blaster but that will probably take away the magnesium too. Do you use glass beads or pecan hulls or sandblast?

Glass Beads... I have tried many different types of media and I think glass works the best and does not seems to remove any of the metal although what I have noticed is that not all pieces are the same. Some seem to be softer in spots than others. So keep a good eye on what you are cleaning.

Pecan and walnut shells work okay for loose stuff but I find it doesn’t touch well adhered paint, great for cleaning particularly sensitive stuff like pistons. I’m going to test a couple parts using low pressure aluminum oxide next week.
