Finally it's finished (almost).! The only thing left to do is get a set screw or plug for the bottom oil line outlet for the auto oiler.Since this saw is manual only that bottom line gets plugged. What a giant PITA this saw was today.I put the new plug wire in without any problems till it came time for a test start.I had great blue spark, but when I put the plug back in the saw it wouldn't even pop.I put a new plug in & still got nothing. Then out of curiosity I put in a longer Bosch plug & the saw fired right up.It starts on one pull when warm, two pulls if cold. Here are some pics of my newest Frankensaw.

Now it's on to saw #2.The original carb is no longer viable, one of the screws on the metering side cover became stripped out.I couldn't get the carb to hold pressure at first,I remedied that, but then it wouldn't release pressure fast enough.I'm putting on an SDC81 init's place. It bolts up just fine, the throttle & choke linkages hook up just fine. The only thing I had to do was change the needle grommet.Tomorrow I'll put a fuel line & filter in & new points & condenser. This saw has never fired up since I've had it,about 3 yrs.now.

I put the fuel line & filter in & new points & condenser. The saw fired right up & ran great, but there was a good sized puddle of fuel under the saw & dripping from the bottom.I'd wondered why there was a bead of JB Weld on the bottom of the saw, along with a broken screw on the back side of the bottom. From what I canm figure out, whoever the jackass was who owned the saw must've gotten it stuck in a pinch & wiggle & twisted it from side to side to get it out.Brilliant! I don't know if there's any fixing that saw.

I can't say for certain Charles,I was thinking the same thing.(great minds think alike,Lol). At this point I have nothing to lose but a little Red Kote.I'll give it a try & see what happens.Gotta let the tank air out for a while though.Too bad I didn't know beforehand, the tank was dry for yrs.

I talked with my parts guy Bob today & he said the saw has a gasket in between the 2 halves. That explains the oil & fuel leaks.I really don't think the saw is worth tearing down,I'll use it for a parts saw first. Now I'll just look around for another cheap 101.
