Been a bit since I last posted. Life, kids, work etc. Back in January I spoke with a gentleman who had a Zip in great condition that he was offering up for sale. He said it had compression and whoever maintained it drained it dry for storage so there’s no varnish in the tank. I passed on it at the time mainly because I didn’t want to make the drive to his town in the snow. I reached out to him the other day seeing if he still had it and he did. He was looking to get $200 but was open to offers. I have not seen the saw in person but have seen photos and it definitely looks as good as he described. I am planning on making the hour drive in the coming days to take a look. Since I’m not very familiar with saws this old, I was hoping for some opinions on the fair value of the saw. I know the value is what a person is willing to pay but was hoping for some sort of ballpark idea. Thanks.

200 is kinda high for a zip but condition is everything.

I had $150 in mind as what I thought was reasonable.

Zips are extremely common but finding one in really good shape doesn't happen every day. Condition is the real key to the value of it. $150-$200 isn't bad if you don't have to do much to it. Please post pictures of your new toy when you get it!

Last year I bought a Zip, 770G, model 17, and 13 other old saws from an old Stihl dealer for $20 each, several running. At another auction I bought a Poulin Super 68 with 31 inch bar for $40. The Stihl dealer cut me a loop of half inch chain for it for $30. I also gave SVK a zip a couple years ago. It would have to be in like new shape, running, and cutting and looking pretty. The Stihl dealer has a Zip for $20, but I already promised it to another member here.

I decided to wait on this saw. The hour drive each way is part of the reason but the price is the other. I’ll keep my open for a better deal. Thanks for all the replies.
