I'm watching a 330 at an auction. Sale ends tomorrow. Usually I wouldn't mess with a 330, but the current bid is $2. I pulled the plug and shot some mix in it and it fired right up. I think I'll put a low bid on it just because it sounded good. The big problem with them is the intake manifold correct? How is a 330 as a runner, if in good shape? It looks like new. I might get lucky and it's a runner.
Would you buy a 330 for cheap? Is it as good as an XL12?

The 330 is a good running saw and quite a simple design. My first one was given to me as a basket case, nobody would attempt to make repairs to it. Turns out the lead wire to the on/off switch was burnt through and shorting out on the cylinder. It reminds of the way a XL-12 performs. It does rev a little higher. Leon has a couple of great videos on repairs and assembley procedures. The carb boots are plentiful and prices have come down lately. The carb kits for the zama have to be searched for. A walbro was also used. The next three of them were junked, bought them as parts saws. they have pristine cylinders and pistons. The best of them is set up with a 16" sprocket tip, a semi skip full chisel chain, performs pretty nice. Let the rest of us know what you think of the 330.
