Hi all,I've got an SEZ,older variety that's red & white. It has the sintered aluminum tube in the oil cap.I noticed that when pumping the manual oiler it'd pump great when full, but as the tank got down a bit it'd not want to pump any oil to the bar pad.Today I had to replace some duck bills on some fuel caps & figured I'd replace the duck bill in the oil cap as well. The old duck bill was pretty dried out & was black in color.I noticed the new duck bills are reddish in color & I popped one in.I tested the manual oiler after installing the new duck bill & it seemed to pump oil right away even though the tank wasn't full.Could the old duck bill being bad also have been a cause for the auto oiler to not work?I guess I'll find out the next time I go out cutting. It doesn't take long to go through a 10 pack of duck bills,Lol.

A black one could likely be an original(!)---And 40-50 years old. A melted duckbill plugging the vent would make it difficult to draw any oil through the oil line system. I would imagine it would work well initially, build a little vacuuum, then quickly prevent any flow. Loosening the cap before replacing the duckbill may have been helpful to diagnose it- But see how it works now with a good cutting session!

Those oil caps also have 2 small diameter vent holes that are prone to clogging. Be sure to clear BOTH with a small diameter wire.
