While thumbing thru my McMaster-Carr catalog , I ran across cushioned grip material in different sizes including some for 7/8" diameter tubing like the handle bars on lots of saws . I ordered Item # 9282K27 , which is a 2-pack of 15" long grips . They are a soft vinyl foam and feel good to the hand . They aren't correct for a restoration , but should be good on a working saw . The 15" pieces were perfect length for the SXL AO's curved handle bars . McM-C has different sizes and lengths Charles

Thanks for the info, might get some for saws I use regularly, might help with the numbness in the hands after

A follow-up on my post . I finally had a chance to do some cutting with the handle bar covers using the cushioned grip material from McMaster-Carr .
It worked great ! No need for heavy (and hot) gloves ! Time will tell how it will hold up , but so far , so good .

Thanks for passing this info along to the forum. I have been putting 3 C series saws back in working order and noticed how simple the front bars are constructed. This material would be a nice finish to a custom hand bar. Got a friend who owns a complete machine shop, and aluminum stock should be no problem.
