Hey guys, I came across a super ez that was in great shape, but low compression. I have another super ez that I just got running with great compression, but the body is a little rough. I figured I would just put the nice body on the good running saw. I’m at the point where I am reassembling the saw and noticed some differences in the oil pump setup. The good running engine has a pump with no nipple on it for an oil line nor did I find one in the oil tank. The nice saw with a bad engine has the oil pump with the nipple and the hole in the casing of the saw for the line to go into. My question is can I use the oil pump with the nipple and just drill a hole in the case to rout the house through to the pump. The nice fuel/ oil tank has the hole for the oil line to come out of to the pump. I noticed the old tank didn’t have this hole so it must have another place where it draws the oil from. Pictures included because just writing this is confusing.

The last two pictures of the case are showing one with the hole for the oil line and one without. Hard to see the one with the hole cause it has some junk in it. Just want to make sure I can drill the hole for the oil line to go to the pump.

The early versions of the saw drew oil for the automatic oil pump through the manual oiler pickup and had a passage through the crankcase to the automatic oiler. Later versions had a second oil pickup that came out of the tank above the clutch and down to the oil pump. You want to be careful not to mix parts between the two systems or the pump will never work. The most common thing I've seen/heard about are a late model crankcase being installed on an old system...which means there's no internal passage to accommodate that early style automatic oil pump.

Shoot, so your saying using this clean fuel/ oil tank setup on this crank case is a no go? Dang.
Leon this is Nick btw. I saw it’s being shipped, thank you!

Maybe I will just buy that piston and cylinder you have on your site and use the old engine.

Or I guess I could snag the piston and cylinder off the good one I have! 🙄
