I am trying to figure out what year by chain saw is as it was rescued from someone throwing it away. I have tried to navigate my way through the threads but I am getting confused as I think I read that the Super XL-12 had another name when sold in the US. I am from Australia. It says on the side of the saw “Super XL-12 automatic” And the serial number is “2414411”. It potentially is “AO 2414411” as the ‘AO’ appears to be stamped not in the correct position. Any help is appreciated.

I didn't know the SXL-12 came as an automatic,I thought they were all manual oilers. Is this saw a rarity?

That explains it,the SXL-12 with auto oilers were sold outside of the U.S.

Would anyone know how much these things are worth? Good question. It would be worth more in the USA because they were not offered here.

Would anyone know how much these things are worth? This is only a guess, but a saw in that condition is likely to bring $200-300 on Ebay.

There was also an XL-12 Economy that I believe was also an export saw only. There seems to be some in Europe.
