Not sure what I'm going to do. I looked the serial numbr up when I got it and I think it's a 1968. Was going to stick it on Ebay. BUT, I made the mistake of shooting a video of it, I liked it so much, now I don't want to sell it. Just have too many XL 12 series saws, Joe. youtu.be/vWreaoxS8LQ

If you were wondering why I was pointing the chain at the end of the log, let me see your guess.

Nice saw! My first guess is to make sure the log knows who's the boss and hadn't better start any trouble. Second guess is to see if you're getting some oil slinging off. I do similar stuff to make sure oilers are working. Third guess is to get a good echo of the exhaust note off the flat end of the log. Gotta love how those sound!

Yeah, can’t fool you guys. It’s manual only oiler. I put a new chain on it, and while the bar was off I gave it a pump, and a giant blob of oil came out. It throws some oil.

I had this saw on my truck Friday. My wife asked me to cut down a dead Dogwood for her mom’s neighbor. I cut off one lead, running great. Turned the saw on its side to cut the rest down and it just shut off. I’ve had them lean out when you turned them on the side, but never just shut off instantly. In the video above, I went on to buck up that whole log, into 24” wood with a 16” bar. Ran great. I took a quick look to see if the plug wire was shorting, looks good. Doesn’t sound like seals. I’ve fad fuel filters come out of the fuel too, when turned on the side, but they still run till the line empties. Gonna take a look tomorrow, what should I look for first?

Look for a bare wire for the stop switch shorting out.

Thanks, Greg, that was my first thought, but I haven't had a chance to look. Where the plug boot hooks up to the plug, it looked like there might be a cut in the wire, but, I haven't followed up on that either. I was thinking about selling some of my smaller saws. But, every time I pick one up, I use it, and it runs great. Then I don't want to sell it!
