WOW----just WOW!! I am somewhat of a traditionalist, and proudly have an XL 101 and a SXL 925 Homelites with their original hard nose Perma-Hard Tip bars. I have done a lot of restoration, rail closure, squaring, clearancing and really nice Sugar Creek Supply stencil repainting. I really pride myself in having these excellent original pieces for my chainsaws.
I recently just bought and placed a new Oregon Power-Cut ROLLER tip bar, and new Oregon chain on the xl 101 and it is eye opening!! This bar with a roller tip slides the chain so much smoother and easier than the hard tip that I can't believe it. It truly works many times better. The clutch engages and releases much more smoothly. It starts the chain moving a lot easier from a stop and seems like a whole new level of performance! If you haven't tried one of these- You really need to! Hope to put it to the wood this weekend.
The bar came full of a green grease on the front roller cogs. Not real clear how these are to be serviced?? There is a hole in the bar on one side to re-grease (or oil?) it routinely. Any service tips for a new owner/ convert??

Clean the groove when you have the chain off and grease the nose while turning the sprocket, nothing to it. High speed, low drag.
