Some of these saws are previous demolition derby contestants. There are a lot of good adorable restorables out there to consider though. Might try finding another.

Ah,very well then.If all the parts you have in the pic are still good, then it might not be too far fetched to get this saw up & running again, but you still might be better off looking for another 925 to use for donor parts,i.e.piston & cylinder.I think it cost me around $175-$200 to part my 925 together which included a 28 in.off brand hard nose bar & chain.

Yes I do agree that I am flirting with the line between this costing more than buying a saw that is running, or nearly running. These are tough to come by in my area, but maybe I just need to be a little more patient and wait! Seems to be the name of the game with these old saws haha.

Hi guys - New to the forum, but been lurking and getting help from this site for quite some time. So first off, thank you to this community for posting so much helpful info for folks like me. I have rebuilt a couple saws now, and have acquired a SXL-925 for very cheap. As expected, the piston was burnt up badly and there was very low compression. But hey, it was 20 bucks so I figured it would be some cheap thrills for the tinkering bench. Anyways, a few years have passed and I am finally cracking into it... literally... I tried to get cute and use a couple of screw drivers as a fulcrum to unstick and spin off the clutch. Like an idiot I have cracked the 6-shoe clutch body itself. Delving deeper into the saw, that is just one more thing I can add to the list of replacement parts that will be needed. Which brings me to my next question - does anyone on this forum have an old SXL-925 of old parts for one? Or know the best place to purchase? Some are available on Leon's website, but others I am having trouble locating (my newly broken clutch being one of them!) One saw came and went in my area before I could snag it, but wondering if there is a better way to get parts. Seems they are not a super common saw, at least in my neck of the woods. Cylinder had transfer from the piston, but I was able to clean it up and am pleased with the result. Given that jugs are probably one of the harder parts to get, I thought this rebuilt might still have some potential. Thank you for your continued help guys! Jake
