Hi everyone ! I'm from Italy and i'm facing the lockdown time so i searched some work to do on a simply two stroke engine: my colleague gave me a rusty and dead first model Homelite XL Automatic Oiling to restore. After a month work, now the chinsaw runs pretty good but i miss the cap of the oil chain tank (A-97359) so the oiling line doesn't work: at first it was gave me with a wine bottle cap as substitute! Here in Italy Homelite spare parts are pretty unobtainable (chainsaw dealers don't even know Homelite name!) and in the web (amazon, ebay, etc), since nearly every part is from USA, the shipment cost is higher than the cost of the cap itself (almost 25$ toghether). Does anyone of you know which kind of thread the chain oil tank/cap has so maybe i could find a similar cap at a lower price to buy. I searched everywhere with no result . Thank you in advance. Welcome to HOH! I'm afraid I don't know of an interchange cap...you're pretty much stuck with the Homelite part. I'd recommend putting together an order of everything you need...a reputable seller can get up to 8 ounces of small parts to Italy for roughly $15 via First Class Mail International. It looks like you need a tank duckbill valve too...

You're right ! I need that valve too as the one in the oil tank ! I have other components to find (sprocket, chain, bar) so maybe i could put them together and order it once. Nevertheless do you have any issue on the kind of thread used ?

You could maybe use a thread pitch gauge to determine the thread (threads/inch or metric equivalent) pitch of the tank threads. With that info a machine shop could machine a new tank cap from Delrin bar stock. (acetal)

I've used Rotary Brand #9164 caps on my XL's with good results.
