I have 2 Homelite saws that have been in the family for a long time. One is an XL101 built mid year 1968, and a SXL925 built May 1974. They were originally bought new and have been cutting up a lot of beetle kill pines for numerous years. I received the 2 saws from my father and have been rebuilding, refurbishing and tuning them up. One very interesting thing I received with all the original paperwork, manuals, inspection tags and delivery items, was an interesting loose metal tag. See pic attached. I have been unable to determine which saw this tag may have came from, and where it may have originally been glued into place. An interesting clue was that step 6 states to "Replace Cover". Browsing around just tonight, I was reviewing another IPL for another older Homelite and it just so happened to show a tag attached to the inside of the air filter cover!
Do I have some kind of interior instruction tag for one of the air filter top covers??? Would anyone have an idea on this and where it was originally cemented on? It is a complete mystery to me!! Never have seen one of these before!

Funny, I never realized you're supposed to take the air filter cover off to start one! I just keep livin' and learnin'.

Thank you Clasec for solving the case! I could not figure which saw nor where it should go. Seems a little strange to put one there, but now I know where it belongs. Kinda like putting the instructions on how to pour out your flooded boots on the heal!!

I think it was a crutch for the guy who did not use his saw often. He would fail to get it started and pull the cover to "see" what was wrong. I like the "Read Owner's Manual Carefully" at the bottom, they could have added "Idiot" to be a little more snarky. :{)

The older I get, and the more I observe people around me throughout the day, the more it makes sense to me that manufacturers have to label such basic instructions. I'm not sure how some people even survive the day.
