Removed cover on oil reservoir to replace line and re-attach filter. Noticed that it had a gasket but also looked like it was sealed with silicon type sealant as well. Purchased new gasket, is that sufficient enough? I did noticed the other 150 I have also looked like it had been assembled the same way. What has been the groups experience with this?

I've always just used the gasket with good results.

Thanks, I was always under the impression you either used one or the other but not both. I use the gasket!

The one "supplment" you can use is a gasket sealer, like the Permatex Gasgacinch. Some modern gasket materials are more porous and the kind of sealer will work well. I tend to use it on the fuel pump side of the HDC & SDC carburetors. New out of the pack gaskets will leak on a pressure test, but a little of the Permatex stops almost all of it.

Thanks! Agree it would absolutely help with the carb as well.
