Have had several shipping issues with the US POSTAL SERVICE . Which in recent years is getting more often the case.Ordered some parts for garden tractor , typically use the post office with no issues from this one supplier , for over 10 years . TODAY Wife said package came in , I went to table turned envelope over and it was ripped across the full width of package , just over the address label .was totally empty . ......called local postmaster and gave her tracking # and explained what happened , there was no damage labeling on it. and she told me . THE US POST OF IS NOT LIABLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOUR MAIL .If the are not liable who the.... is . My shipper did not insure part , it was not that valuable , just unique hard to find parts. IF YOU NEED TO SHIP BEWARE , use another source other than our postal system

If I were you I'd go over your local postmaster's head. You can file a report with the U.S.Postal Inspectors online.I filed a report on the saw that sat in a postal facility for 9 days before it moved on.I never got a reply back from them either.I think they're so back logged with complaints that they take the most serious ones first - like mail theft. I also filed a complaint with the Postal Inspectors almost 2 yrs.ago about my substitute carrier who drove into my mailbox, destroyed it,& not so much as even leave a note saying she was sorry or explain what happened. It took almost a full yr.for them to respond telling me that the complaint had been filed with the wrong dept. - not by me,but by some irresponsible moron who worked for the post office. Unfortunately it's only going to get worse & our postal service will become like that of a 3rd world country. After I had the issue with the saw sitting in a facility for 9 days for no reason,I choose an alternate method of shipping when possible.

Must be going around. I ordered some LVP flooring this week and half the cases showed up damaged. Company is shipping out replacements but still frustrating.

I don't mean to be beating a dead horse here, but this I think this is worth saying.Back before the Christmas rush had officially started I ordered a simple tap from a seller on eBay.Nov.23rd was the official purchase date & they waited 4 days before they shipped it out.OK,maybe they were busy,I'll give anyone the benefit of a doubt. It took exactly one month for me to get the tap which arrived Dec.26th. Now this gets better..... On Dec.22nd I purchased some carb kits that were coming from China.I carefully documented this to prove how unreliable the U.S.Postal Service has become.I received the carb kits on Jan.11th.I did forget to mention that the tap I bought in Nov.came from Alabama & I live in N.Y.,so 30 days to make that journey inside our own country & it took less than 3 weeks to get the kits from another country.I consider that to be pathetic. I recently bought a saw from another member here & I requested that he use UPS as a shipping service.I got the saw in 2 days.I've had to wait around 2 weeks on average to get a saw via U.S.Mail.

USPS definitely doesn't perform anything like UPS and Fedex, but they don't have to. I just thought of this thread as I shipped parts to someone at the post office. What I shipped for $8 at the post office would've been $20 at UPS. If you have a business that gets a big discount like the places I've worked, UPS might be cheaper but I have to pay full rate like most everyone else on here I imagine.
I guess the main reason I keep trying to work with the post office is because I'm paying for the USPS regardless of whether or not I use it. Any of us that pays taxes is paying for the service, you just pay a little more when you actually ship something. I guess as long as my tax dollars keep bailing out the post office billions of dollars at a time, I'll keep trying to utilize the service. It's just a big bureaucratic monster that never will be fixed as long as the fed keeps handing them money:)

Okay, I've seen enough of this thread. I can give you horror stories about every shipper I've ever used, but in reality stuff usually doesn't go wrong. We only talk about the cases that do go badly because we're pissed off (and rightfully so), but that tends to cloud the true picture...most packages are delivered safe and sound, in a reasonable time period. The purpose of this section of the forum is to provide feedback, but it needs to be based on facts. This thread is beginning to trend low on facts and House Of Homelite will not be used to spread inaccurate information, knowingly or otherwise. So I'm leaving a few FACTS before locking this thread. 1) Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution gives Congress the authority to mandate a postal service, designate post offices and routes. Congress utilized this authority in 1792, hence the Post Office Department was created. (Fun Fact: Benjamin Franklin was appointed the 1st Postmaster by the 1775 Continental Congress) 2) In 1970 the Postal Reorganization Act made the USPS an independent agency and almost all tax funded subsidies were eliminated. 3) The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 required the Post Office to do what almost no other business does: prefund retirement benefits based on current employment levels, when those benefits have not yet been earned. This has had a profound impact on the USPS's solvency and operating capital. 4) The USPS operations are not funded by taxpayer dollars...they are funded by sales of service, just like many other businesses in the US. facts.usps.com/top-facts/
