I believe all Super XL-130 saws were solid state ignition, the pre 1979 ones used a coil and an ignition module attached to it...as in the Super XL-130 Chainsaw IPL 122440 (1974). pdf

Is there someone with decals for these saws? I see all the restored saws with new decals and my saws want them to.

Then it’s solid state then. My guess if no spark, will need a module. They are probably hard to find. There some posts on another forum where someone used a Husqvarna ignition which is a lot cheaper, I’ll check later today or tomorrow.

The pics above confirm the saw in question is a '78 Super XL-130 with solid state ignition.
The ignition module is the red rectangular piece attached to the coil. Identical setup on my 1975 Super VI-200.These saws used Wico flywheels.
IF the coil, wiring, ground points, high tension lead, air gap, plug, etc. all test good, Then the module is suspect. An ignition "chip" may be the only replacement available.

Will tinker it some more. Clean contacts, regap. Then try finding a module.

Here are some pics of my saws. #1- -944. Cannot find a model or serial number on it or the spot for the tag. #2- - pioner. Might be a farmsaw. Need a few parts, "of cource".

I dont think your saw is a 944. These saws are typically vibration isolated. It is in xl 700 800 900 series. A couple better shots of your saw would help detemine the saw. It appears to have a few changes over the years so could be a bit harder to figure out.
