Well this is a work in progress, but I've uploaded the dealer service memos that I have from 1963 through early 1975 to the website. Scroll down below the IPL's and you'll see them: www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/parts-diagrams.htmlI don't believe mine are as complete as what Dewayne had, but at least it's something. I think dealers had a tendency to pitch ones that pertained to units that they did not carry. I've got to scan my next batch, but I can already tell that I have a huge hole in my literature from mid 1975 through 1978. I'll fill it as soon as I find a set of memos at a reasonable price, but who knows when that will be! The next batch will go from 1979 up to about 1994 and appear to be fairly complete. The self-feed copier with scanning function at work has been a huge time saver for these, so hopefully I can upload the next batch sometime next week.

This took a helluva lot longer than I hoped, but I'm easily distracted by new-to-me saws! The second batch of service memo's is now posted to the website. As I feared, 1976-1978 is a void as is 1981-1982, but I'll keep collecting and post new material as I find it. The service memo's are about 3/4 of the way down the page: www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/parts-diagrams.html

As luck would have it, after 11 yrs my old XP computer finally had enough and decided to take a permanent vacation, so I got a whole brand new ensemble, windows 10 computer complete with a new flatbed scanner (for scanning memos if nothing else)
Leon, Give me a few days, Ill make a list of everything I have that you don't to make the list more complete. Off the top of my head I have 1976-1978, the 1981-1982 plus 1962, and some of the newer ones.
On the 1984 memos you have the pdf file name from 001-007, but it really goes to 017.

Sounds good! I fond one more book today that has most of 1981 & 1982, so the 76-78 is really where I'm lacking. My scanner will format to PDF if I tell it too; I"ll bet your new one will as well. Thanks for filling in the gaps!

Thanks for filling in the gaps! onlyhomelites, Have you checked your PM's? I sent you a couple. I have started (well now finished) sorting all the memos from what you have and I have, I have about 75 memos (which is probably close to hundred pages) from 1979 and newer that you don't have, NOT including 1981 and 1982 ( because I don't know what you have yet.) If you can PM or post a list of what you have in 1981/1982, I will include and any that I have that you don't in those yrs also. Now 1981 is a screwy year for memos. In previous yrs memos were authored by Pete or Eddie. Somehow they got their numbers screwed up and some of the memo numbers repeat but they are all on different subjects. If you can include the authors name on the 1981 memos then we can see what we both have. I also have some indexes on some yrs that you don't have. The indexes are nice as one knows how many memos were put out that yr and the subject on each memo. On the 75-78 memos, mine start almost where yours left off. I have them from memo 627 (dated 10/75) to memo 810 (dated 03/79). Then they started the new memo format. That book is at least several hundred pages as some memos have multiple pages.

I've got the 81-82 sorted at work and I noticed the complete screw up on the numbering system. I'll try to get them scanned this week and get the list of what I have together. I finally started scanning these things at work, as we have a self-feeding scanner that makes things a whole lot quicker. I just have to be careful to remove any old staples BEFORE they get jammed in the feed tray!
I knew I was missing a number, but a 100 pages...damn! That's a lot of files to edit, add & sort!

Ok, so now I'm officially confused. I'm perusing along, enjoying the very educational reading of said service memos when I get to 1979. So according to technical service bulletin #179-001, the first memo of the year, Bob the manager explains the new bulletin numbering system, ie. 179-xxx. So he goes on to explain that the service bulletins will be numbered in such a way as to separate product lines, ie. chainsaws, etc., and according to Bob number 1 will represent the chainsaw product line. So how come two bulletins later in number 179-004 (and then again, again thereafter) they're talking about string trimmers. Not really that important but what am I missing here? Just curious I guess. To say they had a problem following their own guidelines and numbering system would be an understatement. I think they got it figured out about the time they quit releasing them!

That's really to bad, considering how helpful they are some 25-45 years later. I'm guessing they weren't concerned about that at the time.

String trimmers are in the same group as chainsaws. I don't know why, maybe because they have 2 stroke engines. Lawn and Garden was a different division and they had their own system of memos but I believe that was everything that had 4 stroke engines. On the numbering system, 1 was chainsaws and string trimmers, 2 was construction equipment, cut off saws, concrete viborators ect.. 3 was generators and pumps.
