Hello All,
I have a XL 925 that I have been cutting with for at least 30 years. Sadly it died several weeks ago. The small engine mechanic says it has a bad coil. We have had no luck finding one so far, however I am not giving up on my old friend. I have Stihl's and Husky's, but for certain jobs I prefer the old Homelite. Can any one help with a source of parts?
Thanks, Mac

Parkinlube possibly, check in your area for old hardware stores that may have sold Homlites over the years.... or Ebay... Does it have points? I think they made some with and without? If without, that could be hard to find and expensive.

Tried Parkinlube, no joy. This one has no points. Thanks, Mac The first Homelite XL-925 had three pieces for the ignition - 67162 - module, 67163 - core & generator, 67164 transformer.I didn't have a tester to test these parts. The only thing you could do was try one piece new at a time and hope you could find the bad part. The later units had only 1 module #A-96798. When these came into production, it was easiest to use the new one-piece module to repair the old units. Does your saw have the 3-piece ignition of the later one-piece? chainsawlady

I believe this one is the one piece type.

Are you still in need of the A-96798 ignition module? If so, I have a few (used) and new and could part with one of them. These 1-piece modules/ignitions are/were very reliable and rarely fail.
