You don't have that thing running yet ? Just kidding. Great job on the build and the posting here. Be sure to post vids with sound. Jeez I love that sound (almost as much as a 500cc 2-stroke dirtbike). Oh how I wish! Freeze warning for tonight (yes even in north Florida) so had to cover all the plants in the back yard. We use PVC tube to make a frame and cover it with clear plastic. After that, had to make pies and dressing for Thanksgiving. I did round up the rest of parts. Not much left, just an air filter and cover, front handle bar and the lower brace. I may go ahead and slap it all together later tonight. Still need to find a bar and chain. Have plenty of bars, but may not have a chain made up yet. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Hopefully Friday they'll be a fresh 750 popping in the neighborhood. Dan

Hope everyone enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving. Didn't get to finishing the saw up yesterday, but finally slapped the rest together this morning. I hunted and hunted and every bar that had .404 chain was for a 1050 or 2100. Found a little 28" with 3/8, so decided to swap to the 7 spline hub and but a 3/8 sprocket and just get this thing going. There wasn't much left to do, so won't bore with trivial details. Screwed on the muffler cover after the paint had dried well enough. The air filter and cover was put on. Starter cover screwed down. Lower handle brace with the heat insulating plate. Transformer put on over the plug. Spikes, guide bar plates, and slap on the bar and chain. Here's how she looks. Unfortunatley, the only pieces of wood lying around here are some pine toothpicks. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble to get it dirty and then clean it off, so unfortunatley no cutting today, but here's a little vid of it at least running. Definitely a fun time putting it back together. Now to get time to cut a real tree and use it as it was intended. Dan

Great job! I just picked up a 750 for $100.00 It's missing a carb and some minor things. Is it possible you may have an extra Carb? I'd love to get this thing going!

Incredible deal! Sorry, but no spares. There's one on ebay right now. Look for item 271334692963.

Got my 750 running. Quite an amazing saw!! Any chance you have an extra choke rod and carb upper plate? I need to have a plate to fasten filter and cover to. These saws are awesome. I am going to get a skip tooth tomorrow for the four ft bar. Should be a good runner! Thanks for the ebay notice, I got that carb! Thanks, Andy

Andy, great to hear you got the carb and the saw's alive once again! Sorry, but no spare choke rod or plate. Hunt around and I'll bet they'll pop up.
Dan
edit: Andy, Theres's a couple choke linkages on ebay. Search for 12643.

Finish it off with a tie strap to keep the wires from getting too close to the cylinder. Dan I just saw today a memo about this process that includes a second ty wrap around the wires, to the left of the one in the bottom picture. At least the memo relates to 650's, I assume they are the same. Could easily be wrong as I have never seen either model in person. The memo is at: www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/uploads/3/9/7/9/39792537/683-739_1977.pdfOn page 12, it's number 1003C, dated 4-77. I could not get it to copy to paste here. This is really a fabulous post, one of the best. I have not looked at it for years but its great. Thanks Dan

Probably because of the clearance on the upper section. I can remember seeing this type of wrap on a few saws. Dan

You can’t copy and paste. You have to take a screenshot first, save to jpeg if using a computer. On a smartphone, usually screenshot automatically saves to a picture format.
