Has anyone tried making a foam replacement Air filter for the homelite 330 to replace the pleated air filter, and does it work?

I have used this air filter to cut out many different filters. It is cheap and has good foam density. I always have a few on hand of other sizes and thickness also. Tom tewarehouse.com/1380

Tom tewarehouse.com/1380Thats certainly better than $40. Do you corrugate it like the filter that came with it, or just leave it as a block?

I buy the UNI foam sheets from the local dirt bike shop. You can use super glue or hot melt glue to make about any shape of filter that you would need. My old Honda trials bike had a foam filter cover that that was NLA so I made a cylinder the correct diameter by glueing the ends of a sheet the correct height together and used hot melt glue to glue a cap of foam on it to reproduce the shape of the cover.

I have used a bandsaw with a fine tooth blade at high speed to cut foam very cleanly and easily. A sharp belt sander works great for rounding and cleaning up edges if needed.

An old electric carving knife works great also.
