Here's my Crosman 140 before. I striped it and just put a top coat, no stain. its the top rifle. The bottom is my 1400.

Nice, very nice!!
My 1400 needs re bluing bad. The wood is pristine and this is the reason I bought it, but the metal needs help. The only thing I dont like about this rifle is the trigger action. The trigger gets firmer the more you pump it and this can lead to inaccuracy.

You're right, they use the old style poppet valve, at least they self cock. My very first air gun when I was about 12 is a Crosman 130 pistol. It's what got me back into airguns many years later. It wouldn't hold any air and thanks to the web I learned how to repair and order parts etc. got me addicted and I think i now have six more airguns. I reblued and made a set of grips for the 130 out of cherry.

5.56, but I would love to have one in 6.5 Grendel. A guy at my club has one that he is going to let me shoot and I cant wait. This thing is fun to no end! With nato spec 5.56 coming out of the 16" barrel and no break/hider it really gets your attention....... BOOOM!!, with a 2' fireball out of the end. ;D Makes using the scope a lil......blinding in low light, but in daylight you dont hardly see the flash. Heres 15 shots at 50yrds that I took sighting it in. .

My guess. Dialed in after the first down range. I hear someone's making a .50 cal. upper that pins on. Haven't had the sawbucks to make it worth looking into though.

I think that the .50 BMG upper has been out for a couple of years. Seems that I remember seeing it in Shotgun News. I think that a .50 would tear up the lower rather quickly as it's originally meant for the .223. The .50 is 10X the cartridge that the .223 is. CSW

.50 Beowulf. Similar to a 454 Casul but bigger. You guys are pretty good with your sighting in. This was the target where I was getting down to the nitty gritty for a shoot that was the next weekend. The vertical stringing is due to the ammo inconsistency, the rest is me. With better ammo I would have done well at the shoot, but I was asked to werx last minute and didnt go.

OZ. The .50 cal. that I originally mentioned was/is a .50 BMG single shot. I believe CSW was referring to the same. RBW is talking about a .50 cal "specialty" round that I've only seen in a few magazine articles and honestly don't remember much about other than the Coast Guard and/or Navy might've have had interest in it as a boarding round. After rereading that last post it may have been the 6.5 Grendel that was considered for ship boarding.

I hadnt seen the BMG upper. I think your right about the Beo being the boarding round, the Grendel would make too much of a mess and would be a better match for shooting ships on the other side of the harbor. Heres a link with pics of the Beo rounds, yes that is an ar mag and yes there are 600grn projectiles for these. www.50beowulf.com/bboard/showthread.php?s=b376da23003a8a9b939546b32461c68e&t=290

Post for Shotgunworld *Preface: Im working on getting the LOP down to 12", but I have to see if the small size Decelerator pad will hug the stock at this length. Why? The Speedfeed stock is just too long. Seeing that I like my Speedfeed stock, and I like shooting Brenneke slugs out of this gun, for me a decelerator pad was a must. I sometimes shoot these slugs on the 100yrd range for shits and giggles off of a sand bag and these things will rock your Sox when your sitting down. The boys at the range are always wowed that I can make 5-6" groups with this set up at 100yrds so its a win/win/win combo. I grin, I make tight groups at long ranges, they are amazed, Win/Win/Win! But the 15" LOP on this rig was a big looser if I tried to shoot freehand. The gun is way heavy in the first place at nearly 12lbs loaded, combine that with the LOP and I was allover the place with it. Heres the stock with the Decelerator pad installed. The camera had to be held at an angle to get the 15" mark to show so it looks like Im fudging the LOP, but its measured correctly. Looking it over I saw that there was plenty of meat to the stock to do some cutting on it, plus with the idea of using the Decelerator pad I could loose the stock recoil pad also. I measured and cut just over an inch of for right now as I dont have a small sized Decelerator to be able to guage the fit if I take off a full 2" from the stock, so Ill have to get one and see how it looks before going any further. Here is the shortened stock along with the stock pad, the 1" of the stock I removed and the new plate I made to retain the springs. Just some 1/8" aluminum and profiled to the correct shape that gets attached with two 10-24 flat head screws. I went and cut 1" off of the springs and re profiled the end like they were from the factory to see if I could still get 4 shells in there with only 1" removed, but it is just a smidge too short for that. Heres the shortened springs in their pockets. And here is the stock refit with the 2" hunk of waste removed for comparison. Finally, here it is in all its shortened glory. It shoulders much better now and dosent feel like Im trying to hold up a length of sewer pipe anymore. I was also able to easily relocate the sling stud and re attach it. Its in a position that will work if I decied to leave it at this length or will also be GTG if I want to remove another inch. And they said it couldnt be done.
