In another stroke of luck I was given a Wizard chainsaw with the # CAT 17 on the starter housing. Anybody familiar with these saws? Acres website doesn't list a cat 17 but does list a 17, but shows very little information. I couldn't ask for a better looking specimen. The paint is beautiful no cracks that I have seen and pulled the muffler and the piston is barely even scratched from use. I can definately say that this saw was excellently maintained and cared for. At first look the case on this saw resembles that of the XL series (SXLAO, XL 400, etc) but does have some significant differences. Acres does say that this would have been made by Poulan? Did Poulan at one time that make saws that looked like the SXLAO?? I am very interested to find out some more information on this saw.

Come on, ask a complicated question like this without a picture BTW There my not be a connection by the old Western Auto chain used Wizard as a brand for their tools.

I'm not entirely sure that is a Homelite, it could be a Wright 36? 136?

jr, Nice pictures but you can see the problem that happens when pictures are too big. In the Getting Started thread on the home page there is some suggestions for sizing pictures so they are pleasing to view. Craig
