I know what you mean. I had the same thing with a 925 a few months ago. I found a new carb in a box, installed it and that old saw runs like a beast now. Ain't nothing like a good running 925.

Well the nozzle swap is done. Now to see if it actually made a difference…. Thanks for the part Leon! youtu.be/kIQOPDpORig

Well it was a fun experiment but not a successful one. Going to have to pull the carburetor out again and take a closer look at things. Probably pull the lie jet Welch plug and see if there is maybe some sort of blockage. Unlikely but at this point it’s a process of elimination game .
A ultrasonic cleaner would be nice to have right about now.

What is the issue/symptom ? ... "runs like crap" is pretty broad.
One of my 922 carbs an idle hole was restricted with something (flash/oxidization/crystallized-bit) no amount of carb-clean would remove it... had to run a wire through.

Yes that sounds like a very likely possibility about the low circuit blockage. Will only fire up on choke and will not idle. It ran ok after originally cleaning it up. It did however have the filthiest fuel tank that I have ever cleaned so not out of the realm of possibility to have still had some crap that was pulled up into the carburetor. I’ve rebuilt a good many carburetors and I’ve never had one act up like this. I assumed it was worth trying the nozzle change due to the common problem. No change so it’s obviously a blocked passage or mixing needle or inlet metering issue. All good I’ll figure it out sooner or later. youtu.be/H0I8uZWhcDg

Sounds like the Primary Idle Hole(ahead of the throttle plate) is restricted ... it's the ONLY fuel source to the engine at idle.
I used one of those black wire ties found securing electronics in the box, to 'rod' the hole...wire was a perfect size.

I’ll pop the large Welch plug and check that out. Thanks

Well unfortunately that HS151 has be stumped at the moment. I pulled the large Welch plug and all the passages are clear for best I can tell. I checked the governor valve to see if possible someone was in there and messed with it. All good there. Good inlet lever height, good pressure test. The only thing I can’t rule out is if the proper needles are in the carburetor. Looks kind of like a Walboro hi speed to me but not sure. Ca anyone confirm if these needles look correct? I ended up putting a spare HS120 into it for now. Fairly straight forward swap. Different needles so different grommet and needed to pull the plug to install an external idle adjustment screw. Sounds good but sure would like to solve the HS151 mystery! Lo & hi needles for the 151. Looks like someone has installed a new or possibly incorrect hi needle? Hi needle on right side. Here is a video of the saw idling with the HS120. Ready for a test cut I think. youtu.be/7VZv7rTB1YE

Sounds damn good Trevor! If I were you I'd leave that carb on & toss the 151 in a parts tote. The 151 was put on saws so people wouldn't burn them up by leaning them out.You know what you're doing with carbs,so no worries there.
